As a student at Addis Ababa Technical School studying radio electronics, I discovered an interest in creating moving and still images. After graduation I joined an Ethiopian TV field camera team as an assistant cameraman and soundman. I saw wonderful and terrible things, but also learned to tell stories with image and sound. After moving to the U.S. in 2003, I began to study filmmaking, digital imaging, and photography. A greater command of lighting and composition, combined with a stronger technique helped me to better capture images of reality and beauty. Our everyday life is tomorrow’s history. Photographic images preserve that history to then pass on to future generations. My goal is to create images that tell meaningful stories of who we are, and who we can be. Images not only play a crucial role in creating memories to sustain us, they teach, persuade, evoke emotion, and entertain. They offer a chance to make our lives more enjoyable and peaceful..
